First-year graduate student, Amanda Hudson, gives presentation on thesis plans

First-year graduate student, Amanda Hudson, gave a presentation regarding her thesis plans on April 14th.  Her thesis examines the effects of the amount of time spent playing video games on sleep.  She plans to look at how self-reported play times influence individuals' sleep quality and quantity.  She will look at how sleep differs based on the amount of time spent playing video games and how eveningness not only influences the likelihood of playing video games and time spent playing, but also how much their sleep is negatively impacted. Amanda's thesis will use a more ecologically valid approach and will also allow for the assessment regarding the validity of smartphone applications when measuring sleep based on comparisons to self-reports.  Amanda is mentored by Dr. Mary Ballard.
