First-year graduate student, Ciera Ferrone, gives presentation on thesis plans

First-year graduate student, Ciera Ferrone, gave a presentation regarding her thesis plans on March 3rd.  Her thesis investigates the role of stereotype activation in juror decision-making for cases of campus sexual assault.  Specific stereotypes and counterstereotypes regarding female victims, male perpetrators, and the circumstances surrounding the offense are examined.  Her study looks at the effects of these stereotypes on mock juror's legal decision-making, such as verdict, as well as guilt judgments and ratings of victim blame.  Ciera is mentored by Dr. Twila Wingrove.
