Graduate student Alison Cooke presents on Emotion in Older Adults at SPSP

Graduate student Alison Cooke presented a poster at the Emotions preconference at the Society for Personality and Social Psychology annual conference in Longbeach, CA that explored the positivity effect bias in older adults emotional recognition and their intensity and accuracy in creating emotions. This research, conducted with Dr. Lisa Emery, replicated previous findings suggesting that older individuals do not have a positivity effect bias in regards to emotional recognition. However, there was support for the positivity effect in older adults' creation of emotional expressions. Dr. Emery and Alison plan to extend this research to include younger adults in the future
