Graduate students present research at Southeastern Psychological Association conference

Two experimental master's students, Jessica Udry and Nic Rhoades, presented posters at the annual Southeastern Psychological Association conference in New Orleans on Thursday March 31st. Jessica Udry presented a poster entitled “Does the content of recent text messages indicate personality traits?” while Nic Rhoades presented “How is personality revealed through the linguistic features of text messages?” Both posters were part of a larger project designed to assess the degree of personality information that can be gathered from individuals’ text messages. Jessica’s poster focused on the accuracy of stranger ratings based on text messages, while Nic’s focused on the nature of the cues that are available to stranger raters in the messages themselves. Both Jessica and Nic are mentored by Dr. Rose Mary Webb.
