Dr. Lisa Emery presents talk on aging, memory, and happiness

Dr. Lisa Emery presented a talk on campus on February 5th, entitled “The devil's in the details: Why having a "fuzzy" memory may promote happiness in older adults." The talk presented the background of Dr. Emery’s work regarding memory and happiness in older adults, for which she was recently awarded a major grant from the national institute of health. Dr. Emery hypothesizes that the increased focus on semantic, rather than episodic memory seen in older adults may explain why older adults have been found to be happier on average than younger adults. She is preparing to collect data for this project soon. Dr. Emery’s talk was given as part of a seminar course offered as part of the masters of experimental psychology program.
