Graduate student Zach Morgan gives presentation on the desirability bias in children

Second year graduate student Zach Morgan gave a presentation summarizing the results of his thesis research on campus on February 19th. The presentation was entitled "Against the odds: Do preschoolers, like adults, predict outcomes that are desirable but unlikely?,” and examined the occurrence of the desirability bias in children. The desirability bias specifically refers to the tendency for people to assume desirable events are more likely, but it has not been extensively studied in children. Zach’s research indicates that not only does this bias occur in children, children may exhibit the bias more strongly than adults. Zach is mentored by Dr. Robyn Kondrad.
