Second-year graduate student, Ciera Ferrone, gives presentation on thesis plans

Second-year graduate student, Ciera Ferrone, gave a presentation regarding her thesis plans on February 23rd.  Her thesis investigates the role of stereotype activation in juror decision-making for cases of campus sexual assault.  Specific stereotypes and counterstereotypes regarding female victims, male perpetrators, and the circumstances surrounding the offense are examined.  Her study looks at the effects of these stereotypes on participants' legal decision-making using Mturk, such as verdict, as well as guilt judgments and ratings of victim blame.  Ciera is mentored by Dr. Twila Wingrove.
